Kolonialisme VS. Kesakralan: Dampak Penduduk Inggris Terhadap Sistem Kepercayaan dan Kohesi Sosial Suku Aborigin

Abstract

Suku Aborigin Australia merupakan peradaban tertua dengan sistem kekerabatan kompleks yang menggabungkan antara manusia, alam, dan spiritualitas, serta mengalami gangguan parah akibat kolonialisme bangsa Eropa sejak tahun 1788.  Walaupun menghadapi perempasan tanah dan kebijakan asimilasi, sistem ini memperlihatkan ketahanan budaya yang luar biasa, bahkan menjadi dasar klaim Native Title. Penelitian kualitatif dengan studi literatur ini dapat menganalisis ketahanan tersebut melalui teori Emile Durkheim, khususnya pada konsep yang sakral dan kesadaran kolektif. Tujuannya adalah untuk mengenali unsur kesakralan dalam sistem kepercayaan dan struktur sosial Aborigin pra-kolonial. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa kesakralan sistem tersebut berpusat pada konsep Dreamtime, totemisme klan, pelaksanaan ritual, serta interaksi timbal balik dengan alam. Kesimpulannya, kolonialisme memberikan dampak terbesar terhadap kohesi sosial yang dapat menghancurkan kesadaran kolektif yang sakral, sekaligus menampilkan kemampuan sistem kekerabatan Aborigin untuk dapat beradaptasi dan bertahan.
